Under Wisconsin laws, a felony is any crime the punishment of which can be for a prison sentence for a period of one or more years in a state prison. A federal felony includes penalties of imprisonment in a federal prison for the period of one or more years. In addition to imprisonment, the punishment for both state and federal felony convictions includes fines. A person can be imprisoned, fined, or both.

Felony Classifications

Felonies range from a Class A Felony to a Class I Felony, with penalties raning from life imprisonment one year imprisonment, with fines raning from $100,000.00 to $5,000.00.
