At the close of the Government's case, Attorney Chirafisi motioned the Court for a directed verdict; Attorney Chirafisi asserted to the Court that the Government had failed to prove that a crime had been committed, and Attorney Chirafisi asked the Court to dismiss the case based on that fact. The Court agreed, and threw the case out.

In a directed verdict, the judge does not even give the jury a chance to decide the case, the judge finds that no jury could ever find the defendant guilty based on the facts presented by the prosecution.

Felony Battery Charge - Not Guilty Verdict

Attorney Corey Chirafisi represented a man accused of committing a battery upon another person. The alleged defendant was charged with felony battery, plead not guilty, and the case was bound over for trial in the Dane County Circuit Court. At trial, Attorney Chirafisi won an outright acquittal (not guilty verdict) for his client.

Vehicular Homicide Reduced to Inattentive Driving Citation

Attorney Chirafisi obtained a settlement (plea bargain) from the district attorney reducing the charge of vehicular homicide to an inattentive driving citation. The alleged defendant fell asleep at the wheel and struck a man changing his tire on the side of the road.

Stalking Charge - Not Guilty Verdict

Attorney Chirafisi's client was charged with stalking. At trial, Attorney Chirafisi won an outright acquittal (not guilty verdict) for his client.

Second Degree Sexual Assault - Lack of Probable Cause

At the preliminary hearing to bind the Attorney Chirafisi's client over on charges of second degree sexual assault, Chirafisi convinced the court that the prosecution lacked probable cause. The court agreed, and all charges were dropped.

Third Degree Sexual Assault - Not Guilty Jury Verdict

In a Sheboygan, Wisconsin jury trial on charges for 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, Attorney Corey Chirafisi won an outright acquittal (not guilty verdict).

Obstruction of Justice, Impersonating An Officer - Multiple counts

Two Chicago police officers were charged with multiple counts of impersonating an officer and obstructing justice. Attorney Chirafisi convinced the court to dismiss the charges prior to trial.
